Why Hospital Should Install Solar Panels on Their Roof?

   





  Malaysia receives plenty of sunlight all year round. The solar irradiance is high in February, March, April, September, and October [1]. We should take advantage of this source that God has given to us. According to a recent research about hybrid photovoltaic/fuel cell/battery system in a hospital in Malaysia, the solar irradiance that the hospital receives ranges from 4,792-5,491 kwh/msquare/day. The annual average of solar irradiance is estimated to be 5.05 kwh/msquare/day. So what does this mean to the hospital in term of potential energy and cost saving?
   This means that the hospital can harvest the free and renewable energy and cut the cost of electricity by installing solar panels. As we all know, hospital are very dependent on grid’s electricity. Hospitals need electricity for pumps, kitchen utilities, ventilation, air-conditioning, medical sterilisers, water distillation, and lifts [2] which must be operated 24/7 and at the same time providing emergency power back up. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Center, installed hybrid photovoltaic/fuel cell/battery system and manage to produce 251,760 kwh/year with an excess of 69,003 kwh/year of energy because this facility only used 168,776 kwh/year. Excess of electricity is then stored in a battery system. In the past, this hospital only generated about 91,815 kwh/year when using diesel system only.
   In Bo,Sierra Leone, Mercy Hospital is using photovoltaic/diesel hybrid system. This system able to reduce electricity generation cost and the dependence on diesel fuel [3]. This hybrid system is proven to be inexpensive and cheaper than diesel only system. 72.2% reduction of generator operation time in dry season and 98.6% reduction in wet season is achieve with this solar energy plus diesel system. The reduction in generator operation time truly reduce the operation cost as well as the maintenance cost.  According to Mercy Hospital, the cost dropped about 37% during the dry season and 64% during the wet season.
   St. Damien Hospital in Haitian town of Tabarre also installed hybrid pv/diesel generator. According to the research, 18% of electricity is generated from the hospital and they managed to save about 106 litres of diesel on average day [4]. Lastly, Lugala Lutheran Hospital in Tanzania provide 40% of electricity for their own consumption, also when using pv/diesel generator. Pv/diesel generator is proven to be the most economical and have the best reliability [5].
   All these data provide enough reasons for hospital to install solar panels as their electricity generator. Hospitals can reduce the electricity cost as well as getting tax exemption. If the solar panels provide excess of electricity, we can just sell it off to the grid or store in a battery system for 24/7 power consumption.

Cara Jimat Elektrik Dengan Memasang Panel Solar

Assalamualaikum Tuan/Puan,

Kebelangkangan ni bil elektrik semakin meningkat. Dengan cuaca panas, bil semakin naik sampai mencecah ratusan ringgit. Ye la, pakai air cond, kipas, dryer, washing machine, oven,etc. Semua peralatan ni memang makan banyak elektrik. Jadi ramai yang nak tahu macam mana nak jimat bil elektrik. Jawapannya ialah dengan memasang panel solar. Bila kita pasang panel solar dekat atas bumbung, kita akan menghasilkan tenaga solar. Tenaga solar akan tukar menjadi tenaga elektrik. Tenaga elektrik yang terhasil tu, kita boleh gunakan.

Berapa banyak kita boleh jimat?
Bergantung kepada berapa banyak panel solar yang kita pasang atas bumbung. Semakin banyak panel solar kita pasang, semakin banyak tenaga elektrik yang dapat kita hasilkan.

Adakah kita tak perlu bayar bil elektrik?
Kita perlu bayar bil elektrik cuma dalam harga yang rendah. Kita masih perlukan elektrik daripada TNB. Tapi sedikit saja.

Malaysia menerima cahaya Matahari yang terik alhamdulillah sepanjang tahun. So, memang sesuailah negara kita ni menggunakan panel solar. Kita boleh jimat bil elektrik dalam masa 25 tahun! Bayangkan betapa banyak yang kita boleh jimat. Katakan selalunya kita bayar RM300 untuk bil elektrik. Lepas pasang panel solar, bil elektrik kurang sampai RM100.

Selepas pasang panel solar
RM100 X 12 bulan = RM1200/setahun
RM1200 X 25 tahun=RM30 000

Sebelum pasang panel solar
RM300X12 bulan=RM3600/setahun
RM3600X25 tahun=RM90 000

Penjimatan selepas 25 tahun= RM90 000-RM30 000
                                              =RM60 000

Nampak tak berapa banyak kita boleh jimat.

Bangunan dan Tempat Yang Sesuai Dipasang Panel Solar (Buildings and Places Suitable for Solar Panels Installation)

Assalamualaikum semua. Hari ni saya senaraikan bangunan-bangunan dan tempat-tempat yang sesuai untuk dipasang panel solar. Banyak tempat sebenarnya.

1. Rumah (House). Anda boleh pasang solar panel untuk potong perbelanjaan elektrik dan anda juga boleh jual balik elektrik yang anda hasilkan menggunakan tenaga solar.
2. Bangunan pejabat (Office building). Anda boleh pasang lebih banyak solar berbanding gambar bangunan pejabat dekat bawah ni.
3. Pusat Beli belah (Malls). Tak mengejutkan bila pusat beli belah makin bersemangat nak menggunakan panel solar. Mana taknya, mereka menggunakan elektrik untuk aircond dan lampu sepanjang tahun.
4.Hospital. Hospital juga memerlukan panel solar. Sebab apa? Cuba bayangkan kalau tiba-tiba bekalan elektrik tiada. Memang ada generator untuk back up tapi kalau ada tenaga solar kan lebih baik. Matahari boleh menyumbang tenaga elektrik.
5. Kilang (factory). Kebanyakan pengguna tenaga solar adalah kilang. Sebab apa? Mereka menggunakan tenaga elektrik untuk mesin-mesin mereka 24 jam.


6. Gudang (warehouse). Selain menyimpan barang, gudang juga boleh mengambil kesempatan untuk menjana tenaga elektrik untuk dijual. Bumbung mereka panjang-panjang, Sangat sesuai untuk panel solar.
7. Lapangan Terbang (Airports). Airport pon boleh pasang solar.
